About this place
Along a quiet street in Daizawa, just south of Shimokitazawa Station, takoyaki pub TACOYAcoco welcomes guests with piping-hot teppan specialties made to order. The house star is the dashi-infused takoyaki, crisped lightly on the outside to give way to a molten, savory interior studded with bouncy bites of octopus. Adding a playful touch, each plate arrives decorated with a whimsical sauce-drawn sketch, instantly brightening the table.
The octopus balls come with an appealing range of dressings. Alongside the classic sauce-and-mayonnaise combination, the "negi bukkake"—crowned with a heap of fresh scallions and finished with soy sauce—is a perennial favorite. Those seeking unconventional twists can opt for an Italian rock salt and extra virgin olive oil version dusted with black pepper, or the hearty "sujikon" loaded with braised beef tendon and konjac, each pairing effortlessly with a cold beer or a crisp highball.
Beyond takoyaki, the griddle stays busy with okonomiyaki favorites like classic pork butatama, thick sauce yakisoba, rich miso-braised beef tendon (doteyaki), and a steady lineup of sizzling meats and vegetables. Drink options are equally diverse, spanning frosty glasses of Sapporo draft beer, medium bottles of Sapporo Akaboshi, and playful concoctions like the "Kingyo" (goldfish) sour garnished with a green shiso leaf and a red chili pepper floating like fish in the glass.
Inside, the space features both counter and table seating, complemented by an outdoor terrace that accommodates visitors with pets. Whether stopping by solo for a relaxed evening drink, gathering with family and friends to share a spread of teppan dishes, or picking up freshly griddled takoyaki to go, the restaurant offers an easygoing, hospitable neighborhood haven.
